We are kicking the season off with DynoDay #1 at Dynolab\, Williamsville. Please click the link above and fill out the “Google Form” so we can register you for DynoDay #1. \n  \nDynoday #1 – 21st January\, 2024. \nLocation: Dynolab – Williamsville. \n  \nDynoDay is where we measure the Wheel Horsepower and weight of all competitor vehicles\, as well as take note of any performance mods done to the vehicle so we can classify all competitors in an even class to make competition as balanced as possible. This means that any vehicle\, regardless of performance\, can compete against vehicles with similar specifications. \n  \nDyno\, weighing and inspection: $200. \nMembership: $150 \n  \nNote that in order to be eligible to qualify for the Championship and receive championship points\, competitor vehicles MUST be Dynoed\, Weighed and Inspected (by a CARS Committee member). DESCRIPTION:DESTINATION: Aripo Waterfall \n  \nEVENT DESCRIPTION:\nThe Village of Aripo is located North East of the town of Arima and nestled in one of the valleys of the Northern Range\, Trinidad. Join us as we take a drive along the meandering roadway and through the montane forests. Enjoy the refreshing air and cool temperature as we navigate through the lush\, green trees and make our way to the Aripo River. \n  \nHike Info\n• Location of start of hike: Outskirts of Aripo village\n• Approximate start time of hike: 7:30 am\n• Approximate end of hike: 12 noon \n• Difficulty Rating: 2 out of 10 (1= very easy\, 10 = very strenuous) \n• Intensity: Easy \n• Hike Duration:\no Time going: 20 mins\no Time at destination: 1 – 2 hours\no Time returning: 20 mins \n  \nTerrain Description: We begin our trek by a short\, paved road walk (10 mins)\, then a descent of moderate but short incline off the road and onto the hiking trail which leads us to the Aripo river where another waterfall and large deep pool is located. Trail is shaded throughout\, but pool and waterfall is exposed to full sun from around 11am. \n  \nAll quoted times are based on average driving & hiking times and can vary based on traffic\, the fitness of the group and how fast we move\, the amount of rest stops taken\, any unforeseen variations in the terrain (e.g. fallen trees)\, the weather etc. \n  \nASSEMBLY INFORMATION:\nAssembly area: Carpark of the Food Basket Compound Arima (We do not park here\, we assemble so that all parties are together before heading to the start of the hike) \nAssembly Time: 6:30 am\nDeparture Time from Assembly Point: 7:00 am \n  \nWhen you arrive at the assembly point\, please locate our hike leaders\, attired in red\, black and orange Palance868 T-shirts. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included\, get a wristband and a vehicle ribbon tag. The group will then be briefed on the drive to the start of the hike. We depart as a group and drive in convoy style to the start of the hike\, where we will park our vehicles and do any official briefing to commence the hike. \n  \nCOST:\nTT $75.00 per hiker (This DOES NOT include transportation. Matelot is located 46 miles from Port of Spain and the last village on the Paria Main Road. Due to its location many refer to it as: Behind God’s Back and Down in the Hole. The name Matelot means “Sailor” which was officially given to us by the British in 1868.\nThis hike begins with a trek downhill to the base of the river\, then we gingerly walk along a stony river bed heading upstream to the astounding beauty\, Matelot Falls. Please note that the drive for this event is very long. Carpooling is encouraged and we ask that everyone be prompt for this event. \n  \n???? DESCRIPTION:DESTINATION: Brasso Seco \n  \nEVENT DESCRIPTION:\nThe quaint village of Brasso Seco lies deep within our Northern Range. Enveloping this village is a pristine forest which contains several fascinating rivers\, pools and waterfalls. On this particular trek we venture to three waterfalls: Double River falls (2 waterfalls)\, Sobo Waterfall.\n***Easy option – Double River Falls (2 falls)***\nTake the 45 min hike to larger of the Double River Falls and visit the smaller of the 2 falls on the return. \n  \nRating: 3.5 out of 10 (1= very easy\, 10 = very strenuous)\no Intensity: Easy\no Hike Duration:\n> Time going: 45 mins\n> Time at each destination: 1 – 2 hours\n> Time returning: 45 mins\n***Fair to Moderate option – Double River falls & Sobo (3 waterfalls)***\nTake the 45 min hike to larger of the Double River Falls. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included\, get a wristband and a vehicle ribbon tag. The group will then be briefed on the drive to the start of the hike. We depart as a group and drive in convoy style to the start of the hike\, where we will park our vehicles and do any official briefing to commence the hike. \n  \nCOST:\nTT $75 per hiker\nAll payments are made through Republic Bank\, either online transfer or in bank deposits (at the Teller or using the Fast Deposit option)\nThese costs do NOT include transportation. \n  \nVehicle security contribution: $30 per vehicle to have someone stay with the vehicles while we are away. This is payable in cash on the morning. Exceptions will be made for our very experienced and fit hikers\, who have navigated similar trails with their kids.\nSome medical conditions may hamper your ability to participate in certain hikes and as such\, please discuss this when making your booking. \n  \nPREPARATION GUIDELINES:\nIf you are a first time hiker\, please use this list of recommended hiking essentials for your personal preparation\n1. At least 2L of potable water (refilling in rivers and streams along the way is not recommended)\n2. Juice/energy drinks\, snacks\, sandwiches (ensure packaging is watertight if hike is water based)\n3. Small garbage bag for your personal trash\n4. Sun Protection: Sunblock/ Hat/ Sunglasses\n5. Short or Long pants/tights and loose tops recommended\, bathing suits can be worn underneath\, if you choose to wear short pants\, please opt for a long socks to protect skin from scrapes and bruises\n6. Comfortable footwear\, sneakers with good grips or hiking boots are a MUST! (Check for any signs of it unsticking or dry rotting)\n7. Insect Repellent – OFF\, Citronella Oil or Odomos\n8. Personal Medication\n9. A comfortable backpack (with 2 straps) leaving your hands free to navigate trail help or a friend\n10. Waterproof protection for cell phone/camera & anything that cannot get wet (if you are using Ziploc bags\, please double or triple up on them)\n11. Towel\, change of clothing and footwear (e.g. slippers) to be left in the vehicles\n12. Plastic bag for your wet clothes\n13. Some fresh water left in vehicles to rinse off after hike (mud is to be expected at all hikes) \n  \nSAFETY CHECKLIST:\nWe take every precaution to ensure that you and your loved ones are taken good care of at any of our events.
