DESCRIPTION:The year was 1967\, and in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco\, a movement was growing. \nThe city was known as a sanctuary for those who lived outside the mainstream\, and Baby Boomers gravitated there\, like the Beat Generation or Beatniks twenty years before them\, shedding the conformist threads of society to seek out the bohemian lifestyle. \nThese artists\, musicians\, drifters\, and hippies chased the sun in Golden Gate Park\, danced to Rock n Roll and modern Jazz\, and preached anti-war and free love principles with flowers in their hair. \nTheir iconic style – bright\, bold colours\, flared jeans\, fringe tops\, headbands and slogan tees – was an emblem of the era. \nTheir music preached peace\, love and togetherness. \nIt was the Summer of Love and they were just getting started. \nOn May 27th\, GTC in collaboration with 86ix8 Family takes you on a journey to Haight-Ashbury in 1967 to experience the Summer of Love.

SUMMARY:The Maritime 10th Anniversary Kayak Race
DESCRIPTION:The Maritime 10th Anniversary Kayak Race is in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Ortoire River Race but this event will be hosted in Williams Bay\, Chaguaramas on Saturday 6th May 2023. \nThere are two main races – the long course is 12km and the short course is 6km and will be conducted within Williams Bay. \nRaces will commence promptly at 8am so participants are requested to sign in between 6-7:15 am. Late arrivals will not be allowed to participate. \nRegistration opens on 20th February and closes on 22nd April or earlier depending on availability of kayaks.\nFees are $100 per adult (18+ years)\, $50 per youth (17 and under). \nBoat rental fees: Single surf skis/sit insides – $100\, single sit-on-tops and recreational boats are $50 and double sit-on-tops are $80. (Book early to ensure your choice of boat.) DESCRIPTION:Kako Kafé Fête (Patios for Cocoa and Coffee Festival). \n  \nWe the members of the Tortuga Village Council will be hosting a Two Day Cocoa and Coffee Festival on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of April\, 2023 at the TORTUGA RECREATION GROUND\, Mayo Road\, Tortuga. \nThe Community of Tortuga is nestled on the scenic forested hills of the Central Range. The village has become a food basket for our nation\, providing a varied number of crops including our prized cocoa. Traditionally Cocoa and coffee were our mainstays and today still command an integral part of our landscape. \n  \nThis festival is branded “Tortuga Kako Kafé Fête\,” in Patois\, the language most used by the traditional Cocoa and Coffee farmers. Our aim is to create a forum for farmers\, Value Added Product Manufacturers\, Ministerial Professionals\, Agri Service Providers and the general public to meet in the forum thus providing the much-needed impetus to the Cocoa and Coffee sector. \n  \nOn Saturday booths will open at 10 am. The day will also include an official opening ceremony and a concert from 7 pm featuring the 2023 CSM Daddy Chinee. On the 2nd\, the morning will begin with a 5k run or walk or a 15k ride (bike). DESCRIPTION:CARINA Star Party 2023 will be held at the Chaguaramas Golf Club in Tucker Valley\, on Saturday\, March 18th\, 2023. Due to ongoing safety concerns\, the Tracking Station is unavailable for events. \nAs such\, CARINA has once again coordinated with the CDA to host our 2023 Star Party at the picturesque Chaguaramas Golf Course\, a stone’s throw away from our traditional Tracking Station venue. \nAll plans are in place for a wonderful Star Party experience\, with telescopes\, presentations and camping under a beautiful dark sky. Guests can arrive at 5:00 pm\, to pick a spot and set up for the evening. \n  \nPresentations kick off at 7:00pm\, followed by telescope viewing till dawn.
