DESCRIPTION:DESTINATION: Mermaid Pools\nEVENT DESCRIPTION:\nAn exquisite and scenic destination\, especially when the light of the morning sun beams down through the forest canopy and reflects off the sandstone and limestone riverbed\, creating illuminated waves that ripple down the riverbed as the crystal-clear water flows by. Legend has it that once upon a time\, mermaids were spotted at this location blending into the alluring emerald green pools nestled in the lush Matura Forest. A refreshing forest walk through towering Mora and Pine trees\, through which the occasional cool forest breeze brushes past your face\, takes you down to the Matura River where a small upriver trek leads to a series of 3 picturesque pools\, large\, deep and refreshing. The perfect playground for the nature lover\, kids and kids at heart. Come discover the mysteries of the Mermaid Pools with us! This hike is one of the simplest treks making it quite the ideal hike and great fun for the entire family. \n  \nHIKE INFORMATION:\n• Location of start of hike: Matura\n• Approximate start time of hike: 8:30 am\n• Approximate end of hike: 1:30 pm \n  \n• Difficulty Rating (1= very easy\, 10 = very strenuous): 2 /10 \n• Intensity: Easy\n• Hike Duration: \n  \no Time going: 30-45 mins\no Time at destination: 1 – 3 hours\no Time returning: 30-45 mins \n  \n• Terrain Description: Walk along a wide gravel road of mild incline for about 10-15 mins until a diversion onto the forest trail which will take us downhill though beautiful Pine and Mora forests to first set of pools and\, then we cross the river to head upriver to get to the 2 additional pools (about 10 mins from the 1st set of pools) before returning to the vehicles. The return hike is along the same route. \n  \nAll quoted times are based on average driving & hiking times and can vary based on traffic\, the fitness of the group and how fast we move\, the amount of rest stops taken\, any unforeseen variations in the terrain (e.g. fallen trees)\, the weather etc. \n  \n???? ASSEMBLY INFORMATION:\nAssembly area: The Food Basket Compound\, Corner O’Meara Road & Churchill Roosevelt Highway\, Arima (under the Super 99 sign) \nAssembly Time: 6:30 am \nDeparture Time from Assembly Point: 7 am \nWhen you arrive at the assembly point\, please locate our hike leaders\, attired in red\, black and orange Palance868 T-shirts. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included\, get a wristband and a vehicle ribbon tag. We DO NOT park at this registration point. It is a central location for registration and from where hikers can follow the Palance868 to the start of the hike. The group will then be briefed on the drive to the start of the hike. We depart as a group and drive in convoy style to the start of the hike\, where we will park our vehicles and do any official briefing to commence the hike. \n  \n???? COST:\nTT $75.00 per hiker \n(Transportation is NOT provided\, patrons are responsible for their transportation arrangements to and from the hike). \nAll payments are made through Republic Bank\, either online transfer or in bank deposits (at the Teller or using the Fast Deposit option) \nVehicle security contribution: $30 per vehicle to have someone stay with the vehicles while we are away. DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION:\nAlways wanted to visit Paria but want to avoid the strenuous hike? Well you’re in luck! We’ll be taking you there for a full day of relaxing and bathing BY BOAT! \n  \nParia Bay & waterfall is a definite bucket list item! Come enjoy the majestic views of famous Cathedral Rock\, walk along the lustrous Paria Bay beach and enjoy a refreshing dip in the gorgeous plunge pool that the Paria Waterfall cascades into. \n  \nIs Paria by boat is right for you? \nHere’s some more info. There are only 2 ways to get to Paria. A strenuous 2-3 hour hike either from Blanchisseuse or Brasso Seco or a 20-30 mins baotride. The only boats that go to Paria Bay are fishing boats. This is what we will be taking. We always choose Blanchisseuse’s most experienced boatmen for these trip and they always deliver on safety. Your will be assigned a US Coast guard certified personal lifejacket for the day which MUST be worn on the boat both going & coming. If you are extremely fearful of boats and boatrides or get extremely sea sick\, this trip is not for you. \nWe are limited for space & weight on the boat so large coolers are not allowed. Small cooler bags are welcomed. All usual Palance868 hiking rules apply. Alcohol and smoking of illicit substances is not allowed as it becomes an added risk to manage and ensure that all persons stay within their tolerance limit. Therefore\, we expect persons to be fully sober going and coming to prevent any unnecessary complications. \n  \nDeparting early ensures we get the seas as calm as possible. \nThis trip is subject to the seas being favourable for this trip so if we have any tough seas bulletins or the boatman experiences bad sea conditions the day before\, this event will be cancelled/postponed and full refunds issued accordingly. \n  \nFor proper accountability & group size control\, a booking is required for all our events. \n  \nWhatsApp us at 747-9655 to book.\nWhen booking please provide the following:\n1) Name & cell contact\n2) Age\n3) Any major medical issues. DESCRIPTION:EVENT DESCRIPTION:\nCome unlock some of the mysteries of an island that sits only 7 miles from the Venezuela Paria pennisula & 10 miles from Port of Spain. There is much to discover on Chacachacare\, which was\, until 32 years ago home to a colony of nuns and their patients. With beautiful wildlife trails\, gorgeous beaches\, historical sites\, a grand lighthouse and the salt pond\, there is ample adventure for everyone.\nA booking is required for all Palance868 events. \nHIKE INFORMATION:\no Rating: Level 3 to 5 (check hike ratings below)\no Intensity: Easy to Moderately Challenging (dependant on one’s fitness and if you do 1\,2 or all 3 destinations)\n Salt Pond\, band du Sud Bay and Nunnery only – Rating 3 (easy)\n All destinations including lighthouse – rating 5 (moderately challenging)\no Duration (Circuit): 30 mins to 2 hours\n Salt Pond/Band du Sud bay to Nunnery: 30-45 mins\n Nunnery to Lighthouse: 1 to 1.5 hours\no Terrain Description: This hike will be done as a semi-circuit which starts with the boat dropping us off at Band du Sud Bay. The Salt Pond is a short trek from here where you can effortlessly float around in the very salty lake. From here we hit the trails and head to the Nunnery. Please note that proper shoes and long pants and long sleeves are advised for this trail and there can be scrubs that can scrap delicate skin on the trail. At the Nunnery\, there is a jetty and a lovely beach to relax and enjoy your lunch at. You can opt to relax and remain at this point for the duration of our time on the island. For those with the extra stamina & wanting a challenge\, we then head off through more trails and up to the lighthouse along an abandoned roadway. You’d be pleasantly surprised by how picturesque and beautiful this stretch of coast is. A full day of all the awesome hidden North Coast secrets. \nAmongst our stops for the duration of the day is:\n1. Fort Abercromby\n2. Yarra River & Beach\n3. L’Anse Martin Bay\n4. Jan Baptiste Bay\n5. Marianne River & Bay\n6 Ti Delma Beach\n7. Blanchisseuse Spring Bridge \n  \nThis day is packed with adventure\, fun\, games & trivia! Walk with your camera\, swimwear and picnic basket & spread as we rediscover island living! These are the types of adventures we live for! \n  \nA booking is required for all Palance868 events. \nHIKE INFORMATION:\no Rating: Level 1\no Intensity: Very easy\no Duration (one way): 10-12 hours \n  \no Terrain Description: Mostly short\, well defined trails\no Location of start of Road Trip: North Coast\no Approximate start time of event: 6:30 am\no Time at each destinations: 30 to 45 mins\no Approximate end of hike: 6:30 pm \n  \nThese times are based on average driving & hiking times and can vary based on traffic\, the fitness of the group and how fast we move\, the amount of rest stops taken\, any unforeseen variations in the terrain (e.g. fallen trees)\, the weather etc. \n  \nASSEMBLY INFORMATION:\nAssembly Time: 6:00 am\nAssembly Point: The UDECOTT carpark opposite the Hyatt Regency Hotel\, Port of Spain\nWhen you arrive at the meeting point\, please locate our hike leaders\, attired in red\, black and orange Palance868 T-shirts. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included and get a wristband. The group will then be briefed on the day’s activities and safety precautions.
