SUMMARY:Hike to Turure Watersteps
DESCRIPTION:One of our most enjoyable hikes yet! This destination is as magical as it is breathtaking. \nEVENT DESCRIPTION:\nWithin the forests of Cumaca lies a series of three beautiful spread-type waterfalls\, where curtains of water cascade down limestone faces. \nThese waterfalls are immediately after each other along the Turure River. At the base of each waterfall is a pool that invites you to take a swim. \nThe third waterfall has several pools and the limestone forms a firm base for the river as it flows downstream. \nHere the pools are of varying depth with some being very shallow and some being deep enough to take the plunge off the top of the limestone rocks.\nA booking is required for all Palance868 events. \nHIKE INFORMATION:\noDifficulty Rating: Level 3/10 (check hike ratings below)\noIntensity: Easy to fair\noDuration (one way): 40 mins to 1 hour\noTerrain Description: A relatively easy hike (dependent on one’s fitness) through the forest. There is 1 moderate uphill climb about 10 mins into the hike. The majority of the hike is along trails that run either parallel to or along the river. We cross the river at a few shallow points & no more than 2 feet\, at these crossings\, your shoes will get wet. \nThe trail usually has parts that will be muddy if there was any rain the week prior to this hike and the roots and rocks can be slippery therefore shoes/sneakers with good grips are highly recommended. There is no mandatory swimming involved in this hike unless you decide to swim at the destination. \noLocation of start of hike: Cumaca\, Valencia\noApproximate start time of hike: 7:30 am\noTime at destination: 30 – 45 mins\noApproximate end of hike: 1-2 pm \nThese times are based on average driving & hiking times and can vary based on traffic\, the fitness of the group and how fast we move\, the amount of rest stops taken\, any unforeseen variations in the terrain (e.g. fallen trees)\, the weather etc. \nASSEMBLY INFORMATION:\nAssembly Time: 6:30 am\nAssembly Point: The Food Basket Arima \nWhen you arrive at the meeting point\, please locate our hike leaders\, attired in red\, black and orange Palance868 T-shirts. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included\, get a wristband and get a vehicle ribbon tag. The group will then be briefed on the drive to the start of the hike. We depart as a group and drive in convoy style to the start of the hike\, where we will part our vehicles and do any official briefing to commence the hike. \nCOST:\nTT $75 per person\nThese costs do NOT include transportation.\nFor those driving\, there is a $30 security contribution PER VEHICLE to have someone tend to our vehicles while we are away. \nHOW TO BOOK:\nA booking is required for all Palance868 events for safety and group size control. At least 2L of potable water (refilling in rivers and streams along the way is not recommended)\n2. Juice/energy drinks\, snacks\, sandwiches (ensure packaging is watertight if hike is water based)\n3. Small garbage bag for your personal trash\n4. Sun Protection: Sunblock/ Hat/ Sunglasses\n5. Short or Long pants/tights and loose tops recommended\, bathing suits can be worn underneath\, if you choose to wear short pants\, please opt for a long socks to protect skin from scrapes and bruises\n6. Comfortable footwear\, sneakers with good grips or hiking boots are a MUST! (Check for any signs of it unsticking or dry rotting)\n7. Insect Repellent – OFF\, Citronella Oil or Odomos\n8. Personal Medication\n9. A comfortable backpack (with 2 straps) leaving your hands free to navigate trail help or a friend\n10. Waterproof protection for cell phone/camera & anything that cannot get wet (if you are using Ziploc bags\, please double or triple up on them)\n11. Towel\, change of clothing and footwear (e.g. slippers) to be left in the vehicles\n12. Plastic bag for your wet clothes\n13. Some fresh water left in vehicles to rinse off after hike (mud is to be expected at all hikes) \nSAFETY CHECKLIST:\nWe take every precaution to ensure that you and your loved ones are taken good care of at any of our events. DESCRIPTION:????DESCRIPTION and RATING:\nJoin us as we head to Blue Basin\, located in Deigo Martin.\nRating – Blue Basin is a very easy hike\, a family-friendly event. The walk to the actual waterfall is about 5 minutes. \nThere are 2 ratings for this event\n1- The first is easy(1 out of 10)\, a 5 minute walk straight to Blue Basin Waterfall(includes a 2 minute hill prior to the trail and 3 minutes to the waterfall).\n2- The second option(6 out of 10 and is optional) is to go above Blue Basin Falls. Persons will be screened on the morning for this option as it involves a very difficult climb along the side of the waterfall. \n???? COST:\nTT$80.00 per person.\nTT$50.00 for children 12 and under (no children under the age of 5/children who cannot walk on their own are allowed nor elderly persons who are not physically active)\n– PLEASE NOTE that there is an additional $20.00 parking fee per vehicle\nPlease note that our hikes DO NOT include transportation. \n???? ASSEMBLY INFO:\nMeeting point – 7:30 am at the KFC by Westmoorings(Opposite Superpharm). If you will arrive AFTER 8:00am\, please call 350-5857/365-0771 to indicate as we leave promptly at 8. Our hike leaders will be wearing orange jerseys saying “Outdoor Explorers TT”. \n????VEHICLE SECURITY/PERSONS REQUIRING TRANSPORT:\n• Someone will oversee all vehicles once we are hiking. Your hands should be free throughout the hike to help you navigate the terrain\n-wearing long socks above ankle height to protect against bush scrapes/bugs is encouraged\, but not mandatory\n-Shoes are required\, no slippers or sandals\n-Insect repellent\n-Walk with any necessary medication.\n– Avoid wearing jewelry that may become entangled in bushes
