SUMMARY:Hike to Turere Watersteps (kid friendly) - Easy Difficulty
DESCRIPTION:One of our most enjoyable hikes yet! This destination is as magical as it is breathtaking. \n  \nEVENT DESCRIPTION:\nWithin the forests of Cumaca lies a series of three beautiful spread type waterfalls\, where curtains of water cascade down limestone faces. These waterfalls are immediately after each other along the Turure River. At the base of each waterfall is a pool that invites you to take a swim. The third waterfall has several pools as the limestone forms a firm base for the river as it flows downstream. Here the pools are of varying depth with some being very shallow and some being deep enough to take the plunge off the top of the limestone rocks.\nA booking is required for all Palance868 events. \n  \nHIKE INFORMATION:\no Difficulty Rating: Level 3/10 (check hike ratings below)\no Intensity: Easy to fair\no Duration (one way): 40 mins to 1 hour\no Terrain Description: A relatively easy hike (dependent on one’s fitness) through the forest. \n  \nThere is 1 moderate uphill climb about 10 mins into the hike. The majority of the hike is along trails that run either parallel to or along the river. We cross the river at a few shallow points & no more than 2 feet\, at these crossings\, your shoes will get wet. The trail usually has parts that will be muddy if there was any rain the week prior to this hike and the roots and rocks can be slippery therefore shoes/sneakers with good grips are highly recommended. There is no mandatory swimming involved in this hike unless you decide to swim at the destination. \no Location of start of hike: Cumaca\, Valencia\no Approximate start time of hike: 7:30 am\no Time at destination: 30 – 45 mins\no Approximate end of hike: 1-2 pm\nThese times are based on average driving & hiking times and can vary based on traffic\, the fitness of the group and how fast we move\, the amount of rest stops taken\, any unforeseen variations in the terrain (e.g. fallen trees)\, the weather etc. \n  \nASSEMBLY INFORMATION:\nAssembly Time: 6:30 am\nAssembly Point: The Food Basket Arima\nWhen you arrive at the meeting point\, please locate our hike leaders\, attired in red\, black and orange Palance868 T-shirts. Here you must sign our attendance register with an emergency contact included\, get a wristband and get a vehicle ribbon tag. The group will then be briefed on the drive to the start of the hike. We depart as a group and drive in convoy style to the start of the hike\, where we will part our vehicles and do any official briefing to commence the hike.\nCOST:\nTT $75 per person (transportation not provided) \n  \n  \nFor those driving\, there is a $30 security contribution PER VEHICLE to have someone tend to our vehicles while we are away.\nHOW TO BOOK:\nA booking is required for all Palance868 events for safety and group size control. To book\, either Whatsapp our event coordinator at 18687479655\nWhen booking\, please provide the following for EACH attendee:\n1. Full name & cell contact\n2. Age (if under the age of 18)\n3. List of any major medical issues\, these include allergies\, asthma\, heart issues\, bone\, joint or muscle injuries\n4. Any medication taken\, name and dosage\n5. Is attendee a swimmer or non-swimmer?\nMost hikes are not suitable for children under the age of 5 years. No babies in arms/baby backpacks or strollers will be allowed.\nSome medical conditions may hamper your ability to participate in certain hikes and as such\, please discuss this when making your booking. \n  \nPREPARATION GUIDELINES:\nIf you are a first-time hiker\, please use this list of recommended hiking essentials for your personal preparation\n1. At least 2L of potable water (refilling in rivers and streams along the way is not recommended)\n2. Juice/energy drinks\, snacks\, sandwiches (ensure packaging is watertight if hike is water based)\n3. Small garbage bag for your personal trash\n4. Sun Protection: Sunblock/ Hat/ Sunglasses\n5. Short or Long pants/tights and loose tops recommended\, bathing suits can be worn underneath\, if you choose to wear short pants\, please opt for a long socks to protect skin from scrapes and bruises\n6. Comfortable footwear\, sneakers with good grips or hiking boots are a MUST! (Check for any signs of it unsticking or dry rotting)\n7. Insect Repellent – OFF\, Citronella Oil or Odomos\n8. Personal Medication\n9. A comfortable backpack (with 2 straps) leaving your hands free to navigate trail help or a friend\n10. Waterproof protection for cell phone/camera & anything that cannot get wet (if you are using Ziploc bags\, please double or triple up on them)\n11. Towel\, change of clothing and footwear (e.g. slippers) to be left in the vehicles\n12. Plastic bag for your wet clothes\n13. Some fresh water left in vehicles to rinse off after hike (mud is to be expected at all hikes) \n  \nSAFETY CHECKLIST:\nWe take every precaution to ensure that you and your loved ones are taken good care of at any of our events.
