YESS Productions is laying the red carpet to showcase some of our radiant queens of soca in two epic shows. For this Diamond Jubilee of T&T Carnival, billed to sparkle at Queens of Soca, are Patrice Roberts, Terri Lyons, Destra, Lil Bitts, Nailah Blackman and Nessa Preppy.

Queens of Soca premieres on Wednesday, February 8, at Sundar Popo Auditorium, SAPA, San Fernando, at 7.30 p.m., with a repeat the following evening, at the same time, at Lord Kitchener Auditorium, NAPA, Port-of-Spain. Complimenting the queens would be kings of soca like Farmer Nappy, SuperBlue, Ricardo Drue and David Rudder.

The daughter of living soca icon SuperBlue, Terri Lyons is surfing the crest of her career having won the National Calypso Monarch title in 2020. A competent composer and consistent artiste, Terri brings creativity and energy to any stage she graces. Terri was also recently crowned the regional Caribbean Calypso Queen of Queens.

Speaking of energy, the baby of the cast, Lil Bitts is the pocket rocket of soca. Small in physique, this little lady packs one helluva whallop in voice and stage presence.

Nailah Blackman is the granddaughter of soca pioneer Ras Shorty I and daughter of former National Calypso Queen Abbi Blackman. This lady keeps her grandfather’s legacy in perpetual motion.

Nailah’s songs don’t just energise soca audiences but have also attracted love and attention from the steelband fraternity. At recent National Panorama competitions, Nailah’s tunes have placed steelbands in winner’s row.
Branded as “The Queen of Bakkanal,” Destra Garcia is a true soca diva and queen. Since her entry to the soca kingdom at the turn of the 21st century, this daughter of Laventille has been in the driver’s seat, taking soca globally. One of soca’s most prolific composers, Destra was voted the COTT Music Awards Female Songwriter of the Year on six consecutive occasions. She was also voted the Black Canadian Awards Best International Act on three consecutive occasions.

Country girl come to town and rock a nation aptly describes Patrice Roberts. Originally from Toco, this soca queen stands head and shoulders alongside the best in soca.
On the heels of her dynamic entry to the business in 2005, Patrice established her bona fides in 2006 when she became the youngest female Road March winner in a collaboration with Machel Montano, on the single “Band of the Year.”

A recently acknowledged queen of soca, Nessa Preppy was born in Germany and raised in Arima. In quick time she has asserted herself, having had her debut single – “Tingo” – became a hit in 2018. Since then, Nessa continues to validate her right to keep company with the cast of Queens of Soca.

Each male guest artiste of Queens of Soca is a king in his own right, ensuring that this production will be worth every cent of admission and must not be missed.

YES Productions steered by the cultural activist and event planner – the former owner manager of Palaver Place – Hazel Simonette – along with her expert team – is sure to deliver a memorable occasion.
