Caribbean School of Dancing- Fantasy in dance ‘22 Celebrating Our Legacy
26 November, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
$200Caribbean School of Dancing (CSD) founded in 1957, proudly celebrates 65 years of history, artistic excellence and community. Their dance education students have the opportunity to develop additional skills in Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Choreography, and Creative Dance.
One of the major highlights of the CSD experience is Fantasy In Dance. A school show where teachers put their choreographic skills into practice, creating pieces that follow the theme/storyline of the show. Fantasy In Dance allows students to take the classroom to the stage, showcasing their technique, and performance qualities and sharing their passion for dance with the audience.
Their lower school brings to life Disney’s Encanto with choreography by CSD Principal Bridgette Wilson and teachers Anaïs Hinds, Carol Yip Choy, Cretia Lewis, Terry Springer, Yanick Best, Maria Davis and Mercedes Prevatt.
Their upper school will present an exciting and immersive ballet with a Caribbean twist entitled Xyon’s Heart. Honouring our school’s history of collaboration, this story is written by Muhammad Muwakil of Freetown Collective and features costumes by Valmiki Maharaj of The Lost Tribe. Xyon’s Heart features choreography by Bridgette Wilson, Mercedes Prevatt, Anaïs Hinds and Terry Springer.
The school’s company Metamorphosis Dance Company will also perform a selection of works at this celebratory event. Although both stories may appear to be different, they each have one common denominator – love as a unifying force. A theme that perfectly reflects and represents the fuel of the school’s legacy over its 65 years; The love for dance and the love for the Caribbean School of Dancing.
We invite you to join us on November 26th and 27th at Queen’s Hall as we celebrate our legacy at Fantasy In Dance ‘22.
